In one of the most sensational business acquisitions in recent times, and certainly the biggest in the surfacing industry up to date, Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC and its affiliates acquired an 82% stake and controlling rights of Lanka Ceramics PLC – the second largest tile manufacturer in the country. This successful merger will come under the purview of the conglomerate Vallibel One, managed directly under the patronage of the prolific entrepreneur Mr. Dhammika Perera, but will continue to operate as an independent entity.
“At a cost of approximately 3 billion rupees, the acquisition is a mammoth step in Royal Ceramic’s vision to move the country’s lifestyle towards a modern, design centered mindset, one that creates a unique Sri Lankan interior and architectural identity and is yet contemporarily international”, noted the Managing Director of Royal Ceramics, Mr. Nimal Perera.
Lanka Tiles and Lanka Wall Tiles have a very loyal customer base due to its heritage status in the country’s surface design industry. The companies operate a number of technologically advanced manufacturing facilities, and utilise state of the art technology throughout its plants.
