Royal Ceramics hits the fashion ramps with Rocell designer wall tiles - November 3, 2003
Rocell, known to be "priceless art" in flooring, is now unveiling its designer wall tile collection "Rocell Walls".
Launching this week a range of exclusive wall tile designs that are trendy, practical and manufactured to the highest international standards, the Rocell Wall collection includes Italian Marble designs, Natural Marble Designs, Travertine Designs, Colorado stones, and Aqua designs.
The new collection complements Rocells' existing product portfolio of world class ceramic and porcelain floor tiles.
The diversification into wall tiles comes on the strength of tremendous success RCL has achieved in the floor tiles market, especially following its new logo and branding.
"Introduction of Wall tiles to the company's portfolio was an obvious choice. Insight into customer needs showed the necessity to offer "home concepts", a combination of wall and floor designs with matching borders that complete a certain look and style. For consumers this means ease of choice, integrated professional design combinations and of course an end to the hassle of incessant "trial and error" searches for complimenting wall and floor tiles from a number of different purchase locations," the spokesman said.
Rocells' new Wall tiles compliment existing floor collections. Taking on the international trends in "look & feel", the Rocell Wall collections comprise of three components, a range of tiles in darker shades for the lower half of the wall, a complimenting border followed by a lighter upper section.
The entire range of wall tiles would be produced at the Group's Royal Porcelain Tiles plant at Horana.
Initially 40% of the plant's capacity would be used to manufacture wall tiles with a production of 40,000 square meters per month. The plant has some of the latest machinery including the most modern rotocolour printing system from Italy.
The spokesman said that in the world market, natural marble depictions and matt subtle colours are the "in" trend. Rocell's wall tile collection includes natural marble designs in high glossy surfaces and earthy subtle colors in matt surfaces.
"Whilst we are used to the smaller wall tile sizes, the trend is to use larger tiles such that the design vibrancy is better and unbroken. Thus, Rocells' wall collection also comes in a size that's unique in the local market 25x33cms," the spokesman added.
In January Rocell will also launch 33x50 centimetre rectified tiles, first of its kind in Sri Lanka, which does not require grouting when placing the tiles.
He said that backed by technological collaborators from the world's premier tiling markets, Spain and Italy, Rocell's wall collection isn't just pretty pictures. In fact, whilst complying to international quality standards, the production technology is state of the art.
Most noteworthy, is the use of the worlds' best silicon roller based print technology for the manufacturing process. This printing technology ensures the production of random synchronized designs, thus perfecting the replication of natural marble designs.
"If a customer has noticed the frame like white window on glazed tiles that are locally available, look again at Rocell floor or wall tiles, this unique printing technology ensures that the design spans from end to end of each tile - so no white borders only a seamless design. This technology is yet again a first for Sri Lanka from only Rocell," the spokesman said.
